Affinion offers two products to help customer retention and acquisition. The first is Relationship Banking Strategies which offers customized retail strategies that can be designed around the bank’s specific goals for customer retention or acquisition in the middle, mature, student, affluent and emerging affluent market segments.
The second product is their Customer Appreciation Program – AD & D which allows banks to offer $1,000 of complimentary accidental death and dismemberment insurance at no cost to the DDA, credit card or mortgage customers. Promontory Interfinancial Network’s flagship service, CDARS®, enables Promontory Network members to offer each of their customers access to multi-million-dollar FDIC insurance, and to keep the full amount of these deposits on balance sheet or to sell the funding for fee income. In addition to using CDARS to attract deposits (on average over a million dollars at a time and with reinvestment rates at approximately 80%), Promontory Network members can use the service to help manage interest rate risk or to purchase wholesale funds at favorable rates.
As a deposit-gathering tool, CDARS provides each Promontory Network member with the opportunity to meet its customers' investment needs. Using CDARS, customers can enjoy:
- Safety – Deposits are eligible for multi-million-dollar FDIC insurance coverage;
- Convenience – With CDARS, customers manage one relationship, earn one rate per maturity, and receive one regular account statement, while eliminating the need for multiple rate negotiations, manual consolidation of account statements, and ongoing collateral tracking. Customers can also benefit from receiving just one 1099 at year-end; and
- Rate – Customers earn CD-level returns that may compare favorably with other investment alternatives, including Treasuries, repo accounts, and money market mutual funds.
When a bank places a customer's deposit using the CDARS service, that deposit is divided into amounts under the standard FDIC insurance maximum and placed with other members of the Network, making the amount placed eligible for FDIC insurance coverage. In return, the originating institution receives either matching deposits or fee income. Note: Each originating institution sets the interest rate it offers and maintains complete ownership of its customer relationships.
In addition to the above, CDARS provides Promontory Network members with the ability to acquire fixed- and floating-rate funding – by purchasing an originating institution’s excess deposits.

The mission of the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation (SHCPF) is to provide safe, secure living environments for senior housing residents through sponsorship of the nationally-acclaimed crime prevention program, Senior Crimestoppers. Using the Foundation vehicle, banks make it possible for the Senior Crimestoppers program to operate in participating nursing homes which are considered low-and-moderate income individuals. The SHCPF, a non-profiit organization, operates as a conduit for banks to fulfi ll their federally mandated Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) requirements. All of the four regulatory agencies support the SHCPF and grant CRA credit in a consistent manner for participating banks.
Senior Crimestoppers has a zero tolerance-to-crime platform and uses personal lockboxes, cash rewards paid anonymously and on-going education to accomplish its results. The program currently operates in over 4,000 nursing homes and veterans nursing homes in 45 states and has reduced all aspects of crime by a certified 92.76% through March 31, 2010.
