The West Virginia Treasurer is the “banker’ for state government and has the responsibility for all cash management functions, including establishing and monitoring state depositories; receiving and depositing all funds collected by the state departments, agencies and institutions; paying warrants authorized by the Auditor if sufficient funds exist by endorsing the checks or by authorizing the electronic funds transfer; and various other cash management duties. As Administrator under the Uniform Unclaimed Property Act, the Treasurer is custodian of all abandoned property remitted.
